Sen. Mitt Romney and wife Ann’s Couples Costume
It seems even politicians can’t resist joining in on the Halloween fun. This year, Utah Senator Mitt Romney and his wife Ann decided to go all out and dress up as a famous couple. In an Instagram post, they revealed their couple’s costume as Travis Kelce from the Kansas City Chiefs and Taylor Swift, who are rumored to be dating.
The Outfits
Mitt Romney sported Kelce’s Chiefs No. 87 jersey and even carried a football. Ann, on the other hand, wore a cheerleading outfit and a pair of sunglasses, channeling Taylor Swift’s cool and casual style. Her blonde locks were let loose, with bangs combed out to complete the look.
The Caption and the Reaction
In the caption of the Instagram post, Romney wrote, “It’s a love story, baby, just say yes,” along with musical notes. The couple, who has been married for over 50 years, received a lot of praise and heart emojis from commentators. One user even expressed that the post gave him hope for America.
Sen. Romney’s Role as the Leader of the “Bipawtisan Howl-o-ween Dog Parade”
Aside from their Halloween costume, Mitt Romney is also taking on the responsibility of leading the “Bipawtisan Howl-o-ween Dog Parade.” Originally supposed to be hosted by Sen. Thom Tillis, who is currently sick with COVID-19, Romney stepped in and expressed his honor to lead the event. He even mentioned that he is praying for his friend’s speedy recovery.
Past Halloween Costumes
This isn’t the first time Mitt Romney has gotten into the Halloween spirit. Last year, he dressed up as Ted Lasso, a fictional character from a comedy series. Wearing a Real Salt Lake jersey with a whistle and a stick-on mustache, Romney embraced the character. He even recited some of Lasso’s famous lines and delivered cookies to his friend, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, just like Lasso does for his boss on the show.
The Romney family wasn’t the only one celebrating Halloween at the White House. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden invited trick-or-treaters and decorated the White House with famous literary characters. The event included a “spooky story time” with the first lady reading “Ten Spooky Pumpkins.”
Halloween is a time when everyone can let loose and have some fun, even politicians like Mitt Romney. It’s great to see our leaders embracing the holiday spirit and sharing their costumes with the world.
